2003–2007 · 5.9 Cummins · HPTuners
Mild to Wild.
Your 5.9. Your Way.
HPTuners is the leading tuning platform for the 2003–2007 Dodge Ram 5.9 Cummins, and we've built three purpose-built power levels to match every build. Whether you're pulling a trailer or chasing 500 RWHP, every file is dialed in around your specific fuel system, injector size, and turbo setup — not a one-size-fits-all baseline.
Three Custom Power Levels Included
Every Truck Gets All Three
Each level is calibrated to your specific build — stock to full-send. Three files, one purchase.
TOW
Your clean, crispy everyday tune. Stock-ish fuel delivery, maximum drivability, and the confidence to hook up a trailer. Injection timing advanced, road speed governor removed, post injection eliminated. Roughly 30–50 HP over a stock baseline.
STREET
The perfect blend. More aggressive than Tow but not at the limit — this is the tune we'd daily the truck on with no trailer attached. Addictive off-idle response, strong mid-range pull, and a meaningful step up in power without pushing everything to the edge.
LEMONS
Named after lemonade — made the same way, by squeezing out every last drop. Maximum fuel delivery while barely maintaining rail pressure. 500–525 RWHP on a stock build. Your engine can take it. Your stock transmission and clutches? That's a death sentence.
All three levels include: increased injection timing advance · increased rail pressure command · increased engine speed limiter · removed post injection event · removed road speed governor
No Shift On The Fly — You Flash to Switch
Unlike our 6.7 platform tunes, Shift On The Fly (SOTF) is not available for HPTuners on the 5.9 Cummins. This means each time you want to swap between TOW, STREET, and LEMONS you'll need to connect your MPVI to a Windows computer running VCM Suite and reflash your ECM. It takes a few minutes per flash — and you will need to do it every time you want a different power level.
This is a normal part of the HPTuners workflow on the 5.9 and once you've done it a couple times it becomes second nature. But if you want the ability to change tunes instantly with a physical button — no laptop, no reflash — the 2006–2007 EFILive option below is worth a look.
Want to Switch Tunes
Without Reflashing?
If your truck is a 2006 or 2007 Ram with the CM849 ECM, you have access to a better option. Through EFILive, we can set you up with a CSP Switch — a small physical switch that lets you flip between power levels on the fly without reflashing each time.
- Switch between power levels with a physical dash-mounted button
- Switch between power levels without opening a laptop or connecting a cable
- Compatible with all current and previous HPTuners MPVI hardware
- Same three power levels, better on-the-fly delivery
No CSP Switch or SOTF available for these years. You'll reflash to switch levels. You're in the right place — order here.
CM849 ECM supports EFILive with CSP Switch. Swap between power levels on the fly — no laptop, no reflash.

Tech Sensors
Hardway 10 Bar MAP Sensor by RIFE | 5.9 & 6.7 Cummins | High Boost Billet | Integrated IAT
The stock MAP sensor falls short once you start pushing boost on the 5.9. If you're selecting the 145PSIA / 10BAR calibration option — or planning to — this is the physical sensor your ECM needs to actually read that data. Built for high-boost 5.9 applications, direct plug-in fit, no wiring modifications required.

Questions
Frequently Asked
Does this come with Shift On The Fly?
No. SOTF is not available for HPTuners on the 2003–2007 5.9 Cummins platform. To switch between TOW, STREET, and LEMONS you connect your MPVI to VCM Suite and reflash. It's quick once you've done it, but you will need to reflash each time. If you have a 2006–2007 truck and want tune-switching without reflashing, see our EFILive listing with CSP Switch support.
I have a 2006 or 2007 — should I order this or the EFILive version?
Both work. This HPTuners listing is solid if you already own an MPVI or prefer the HPTuners platform. However, if you want the convenience of switching tunes with a physical CSP Switch — no laptop, no reflash — our EFILive listing is the better choice for your CM849-equipped truck. Your build specs transfer either way.
How many credits does this use?
Licensing your 5.9 ECM requires 2 universal credits. If you've already licensed it through a previous HPTuners session, check your VCM Scanner to confirm current license status before purchasing additional credits — you may not need them.
Does my injector or turbo setup affect which tunes I receive?
Yes — significantly. Your injector size, pump configuration, turbo setup, and rail pressure sensor all directly influence how each power level is calibrated. That's exactly why we collect this information in the order form. If you have a compound turbo or oversized injectors, give us everything in the Build Details field — the more we know, the better the tune.
I selected a dual pump setup — what does the twin pump field mean?
When you select a Dual pump option, a second field appears asking whether you use a twin pump controller (ATS, BD, Industrial Injection, etc.) or a passive splitter harness only. This matters for calibration — a controller actively manages fuel demand differently than a passive split, and your tune is built accordingly. Don't skip this field.
How hard is it to flash the ECM between power levels?
Straightforward. Connect your MPVI, open VCM Suite on your Windows machine, load the tune file, and flash. Start to finish it's a few minutes. You'll likely do it once to get comfortable and then it becomes routine. If at any point you need help, email us — we'll walk you through it.
