Ready to ditch that VGT turbo? Nothing beats the reliability of a fixed vane turbo! For many years since these 6.7’s have been out raising hell, they have been well known for turbo issues. Vanes “getting stuck”, actuators going out, shafts breaking in two… The list goes on and on… Enter the 2nd gen swap. You will need three things to accomplish this swap.
Note: You WILL lose your exhaust brake if you do a second gen swap. Fleece does sell a stand alone “add on” to ensure the exhaust brake does work properly, however be sure to add it into your overall budget.
1 – 2nd Gen Style Manifold; Hence the name “2nd gen swap”. Moves the turbo to the “center” of the engine instead of the lower rear mounting point.
2 – Turbo; Gotta have the turbo to make the power! Always make a turbo choice based upon overall use of the truck and desired HP goal. Give us a ring if you need help with this step.
3 – Piping Kit; Allows for the chosen turbo to be piped to the existing intercooler pipes, included all inlet filters, pipes, hardware, downpipe, and lines to install the turbo into the truck.
This will be your last step in putting your second gen swap kit together! As always, give us a shout if you have any issues or have any questions!
